The Cape has been givenĀ rain. We need about three more weeks of it to make a real difference to the farmers and to the dams, but individually I feel so much more hydrated for the wetness of the past week. It is not supposed to be ideal weather to photograph in, but I have always loved it. I love the way it flattens out the background detail and opens up a recognition of what is immediately in front of you; visually forcing you towards being in the moment. ItĀ gives softness to harsh objects. In this picture the attention is drawn right down to the dynamic energy of one drop of water about to drip off a steel chain. That is being in the moment.
