Common Ostritch 01 Volstruis

The common Ostrich is the largest flightless bird in the world.

The photograph above was taken in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. This pair would be considered truly wild birds. The birds walking around Yzerfontein are seen to be descendants of domesticated farm birds, hence, escapees. The male is black and white while the female, sand bathing in the picture above, has lighter dusty brown coloured feathers along with some white on her wings.
